The 1905 Campaign

Providence Foundation's
The 1905 Campaign

In response to our community's request, Providence was founded as Waco's first hospital in 1905 by the Daugthers of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, as a ministry to serve the community’s sick and vulnerable. The Daugthers have lived and worked along side the community, gracing us with their spiritual guidance, inspirational devotion, and dedication to serve the most vulnerable among us.

Throughout their century of servant leadership, the Daugthers of Charity have been instrumental in Providence's evolution into the healthcare ministry we know today- one that provides a complete continuum of compassionate, high-quality healthcare for peoplewe are privlieged to serve. Under their leadership and guidance, Providence pioneered many of our community's first healthcare services, including the first open heart surgery, the first stroke center, and the first 3D mammogram technology.

While the Daugthers of Charity have made the difficult decision to withdaw from the city of Waco in Spring 2017, ending their day-to-day ministry, they did so with complete faith that the community they served for over a century will continue their legacy of sacrifical service. Providence was founded by their faith over a century ago, and it is this exact faith that we call upon now to honor the legacy they have entrusted to us through The 1905 Campaign.

"Providence Foundation supports the work that the Daughters of Charity began over a hundred years ago, and one of the greatest ways that they do that is by bringing the technology and services to Waco that we need to continue caring for the patients that trust Providence to provide that care." -Erin Rogers
