Providence Hospice

Providence Hospice is a local non-profit hospice provider and provides compassionate end-of-life care to patients and families through a holistic approach to health care. The interdisciplinary team of professionals includes physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, home health aides, and trained volunteers who work with patients and families in promoting quality of life through pain and symptom management, as well as addressing emotional and spiritual needs. Bereavement services are also available to support families for at least thirteen months following the loss of a loved one. We are also proud to offer Rainbows, a specialized grief program for children ages K-12.

Our professionally trained staff provides compassionate, quality health care to adults, children and infants facing the advancing stages of any life-threatening illness such as cancer, Alzheimer's, AIDS, end-stage heart and lung disease, and severe birth defects.

Hospice care can be provided in several different settings including the patient's home, nursing homes, or assisted living facilities. There are four levels of hospice care: Routine Home Care, General Inpatient Care, Respite Care, and Crisis Care. General Inpatient Care service is available and provided in conjunction with Providence Health Center and our hospice suites at St. Catherine's Center. The hospice benefit is covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurances, and includes all medications, medical equipment, and supplies needed to maintain comfort and address symptoms related to the patient's hospice diagnosis.

Quality care is provided to the patient through:

  • An interdisciplinary team approach: teams consist of physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, home health aides and trained volunteers.
  • Pain and symptom management
  • Services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week
