For non-life-threatening health problems, TEAMPROVIDENCE now offers Providence Express Care in downtown Waco, Woodway and North Waco. No appointment necessary and most insurance is accepted. Services include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Fever, cold and flu
  • Sore throat
  • Earache
  • Common sprain
  • Abrasion or minor cut requiring stitches
  • Mild asthma
  • Urinary tract infection
  • Skin rash or irritation
  • Mild complications from: hypertension, diabetes, COPD, other chronic illnesses

Gregory A. Newman, DO

Dr. Newman comes to Providence after eight years at Rettig Family Health Care in Groesbeck. He has served as Chief of Staff and Chairman of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, as well as serving on the Medicine Committee at Parkview Regional Hospital since 2009. Prior to that, he served three years as an independent physician for inpatient and urgent care in Tennessee. Dr. Newman received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and attended the University of Texas at San Antonio prior to graduating as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine University of North Texas Health Science Center at Ft. Worth. He completed his residency at East Tennessee State University College of Medicine where he served as Chief Resident from 2004-2005. Dr. Newman serves patients ranging from newborn to geriatrics with extensive experience in caring for pediatrics.



Isaac J. Lippe, MD

Dr. Lippe has served as a family practice physician at Family Health Center since 2011. Dr. Lippe previously served at Scott & White Clinic in Waco and was Assistant Professor for the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Texas A&M Health Science Center.



Dawn Brittany Spelman-Ojeda, MD

Dr. Spelman-Ojeda is experienced in family medicine. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of St. Thomas with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. She graduated from the University of Texas Medical School and served as a Major in the United States Air Force.



Garret Pool, MD

Garret Pool, MD Express Care Garret Pool, MD joins Providence Express Care after working in a Urgent Care setting in New York for the past year. While in his residency at Stony Brook Hospital, he served as the Chief Resident. Dr. Pool received a Doctorate of Medicine from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara and a Bachelor of Science from University of Texas in Austin. He is excited to return to Texas to raise his family and practice medicine. Dr. Pool is a member of the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Family Physicians.



Lianda Martinez-Nieves, MD

Lianda Martinez-Nieves, MD is a recent graduate of the Family Medicine Residency program at Stony Brook University Hospital in Stony Brook, NY. She received a Doctorate of Medicine from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara and a Bachelor of General Science from Universidad de Puerto Rico in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She is passionate about helping people and is ready to do so in Central Texas. She is a member of the American Medicine Association and the American Academy of Family Physicians.



Valerie Davidson, FNP

Mrs. Davidson is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She holds a Master of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing with Summa Cum Laude honors from Texas Tech University Health Science Center in Lubbock. Her Associate of Science in Nursing is from McLennan Community College in Waco. Valerie’s experience includes more than 8 years in emergency room settings at both Providence and Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center/Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest as a Registered Nurse. She started her medical career early with credentials and certifications that include CNA, phlebotomy, LVN, and RN before becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the Honor Society of Nursing – Sigma Theta Tau International, Central Texas Nurse Practitioners, and the Emergency Nurses Association.
