Meet the Doctors


Gary Barbin, MD

Dr. Gary K. Barbin graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Following graduation he completed his internship & residency training at UTMB-Galveston, specializing in Internal Medicine and also held a teaching appointment at UTMB-John Sealy Hospital. Dr. Barbin is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He joined Waco Internal Medicine Associates in 1978 and Providence Clinics in 2008.

Dr. Barbin has been awarded the 2012 Gold-Headed Cane Award by the McLennan County Medical Society and the McLennan County Medical Alliance. Read More.


Jerod Patchin, DO

Dr. Patchin received his undergraduate degree from Baylor University and returned to Waco after receiving a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth. Dr. Patchin completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Methodist Health System in Dallas and has certification in Advanced Disaster Life Support. He is an Associate Member of the American College of Physicians and member of the Texas Medical Association.


Arthur Sudan, MD

Dr. Arthur Sudan graduated from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston specializing in Internal Medicine. After graduation, he compelted his internship & residency traning at the Baylor College of Medicine and served as a research assistant in Infectious Diseases. Dr. Sudan is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He joined Waco Internal Medicine Associates in 1985 and Providence Clinics in 2008.



Roger Cowart, MD

Dr. Roger W. Cowart graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He received his Master of Science Degree in Health Care Professions at Southwest Texas State University, and attended the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine where he received his Doctorate in Medicine. Dr. Cowart completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at East Tennessee State University James H. Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City, Tennessee. Prior to joining Providence, Dr. Cowart served on the staff of the Waco VA Medical Center, the Marlin VA Medical Center, and the Falls Community Hospital and Rural Health Clinic. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and has been affiliated with the Providence Healthcare Network since 1993.


J. Alfredo Najera-Flores, MD

Dr. Najera-Flores comes to Providence after spending the last four years at Community Health Center in Pittsfield, MA. In addition to providing Internal Medicine services, he served as Immunizations Director and Internal Medicine Preceptor involved in teaching and supervision of Internal Medicine residents in training. He is a native of Guatemala and is bilingual speaking both Spanish and English. He received his doctorate and completed Internal Medicine Residency in Guatemala prior to attending an Internal Medicine residency program at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami.
